Tierra participated in the 23rd Asian Seed Congress, held at Songdo Convensia Convention Centre in Incheon, South Korea on 07th – 11th November 2016. Asian Seed Congress, part of the Asia & Pacific Seed Association (APSA), was hosted this year by the Korea Seed & Variety Service and the Korean Seed Association. Around 1,500 delegates across 48 countries from across Asia, Europe and America attended the Congress.
We had our own booth, where we showcased the technologies developed at Tierra in Cotton, Rice, Tomato & Corn. Meetings with representatives of 50 companies were held to give details of technologies that are on offer for licensing. Several companies are now in contact with Tierra to work out details of licensing these technologies
Tierra participated in the International Seed Federation (ISF) World Seed Congress, held in Punta del Este, Uruguay on 15th – 18th May 2016. ISF represents the seed industry at a global level where it promotes the cooperation among national and regional seed associations/firms. ISF World Seed Congress brings together the seed industry professionals to discuss the issues of the global seed industry. Theme of ISF World Seed Congress 2016 was “The Natural Way Forward in Business & Life”. From Tierra, Mr. Suresh Atluri, Managing Director and Mr. Ram Kaundinya, Chief Mentor, attended the Congress.
Tierra in association with John Deere, India successfully organized the demonstration for machine picking of Tierra Cotton HDPS Hybrids on 16th December 2015 at our farm in Hyderabad. Event was attended by several seed industry experts and progressive farmers who were extremely happy with the performance of our HDPS hybrids suitable for machine picking. Demonstration was followed by a press meet and lunch. Kudos to Team Tierra for the success of the event!
Tierra's research partner Iden Biotechnology, an Agri Biotech R&D and Service Company based in Spain, celebrated its 10th anniversary on December 2015. On this happy occasion, we would like to congratulate the whole Iden team. Also, we are glad to share that, as part of anniversary celebrations, Iden inaugurated new and improved facilities on 14th December 2015 in Spain.

Our Managing Director, Mr. Suresh Atluri attended this pre-eminent gathering of entrepreneurs, industrialists, support services-providers, investors and foodpreneurs. Summit was a perfect platform to identify compelling opportunities and innovative business ideas revolutionising the food & beverage industry.
Biotech research facility of Tierra Seed Science Private Limited has received an authorization (Order No. TSPCB/BMWA/RR-II - 10/2015, dated 14th October, 2015) from Telangana State Pollution Control Board. This authorization gives Tierra CLEARANCE for the internal processes that are being followed on generation, segregation and safe-disposal of the waste generated in the R&D Laboratory.

High Density Plating System (HDPS) in Cotton with suitability for machine picking is predicted to be the order of tomorrow in cotton cultivation in India. Tierra has been in the forefront of development of HDPS cotton suitable for machine picking. Together with its mechanisation partner, John Deere, Tierra has completed sowing of its two new products TS1001 and TS1002 in demonstration plots in 180 acres spread across Punjab, Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Surinder. K. Tikoo, our Founder Director and Head of Breeding, as a member of Supervisory Board at Access To Seeds Foundation based in Haarlem, Netherlands. Access to Seeds Foundation is a global organisation which aims at bridging the gap between the world's leading seed companies and the smallholder farmer.
Tierra participated in the 66th International Seed Federation (ISF) World Seed Congress held in Krakow, Poland on 25th - 27th May 2015. Our Managing Director, Mr. Suresh Atluri attended the Congress where more than 1,600 seed industry professionals from 64 countries gathered to discuss the global issues in seed industry.
Cotton harvesting is one of the biggest challenges in cotton farming. With increasing cost of labour for manual picking in India, machine picking is the only way for cotton farmers to remain profitable. For machine picking the plant should have suitable plant architecture and synchronous boll maturity. Tierra has successfully developed suitable plant types for machine harvesting. In collaboration with John Deere, Tierra has picked cotton in 30 acres of demonstration plots in Krishna District using their mechanical picker. Thousand man-days of work completed in less than 3 days! Low trash and high fibre quality - as they say Sone pe Suhaaga. We are excited to be in the forefront of cotton cultivation and harvesting revolution in India.
Tierra celebrated its third anniversary on 2nd January 2015. It's been thrilling to watch our team grow over the years. To make the occasion more special, an in-house cultural evening was organized at Cafe Sandwicho, Hyderabad. Team members along with their family had put the stage on fire with their performances. The theme for the evening was "Blue and White". The Blue boy and Blue Girl competition was a cracker. Guess what, the Blue Girl took away the prize with 42 blue coloured accessories. Outstanding Performers of 2014 were awarded. Interestingly one of our five year old guests remarked - "Why do birthday's come only once in a year?" evoking instant laughter!
We are glad to announce that our Founder Director and Head of Research (Biotechnology) Dr. Parthasarathi Bhattacharya has been appointed as a Board Member of Bio business and Bio economy division of Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB) having its registered office in Korea.
General objective of the Federation is to promote co-operation, on scientific grounds, between the scientists from academia and industry in Asian region, for the general advancement of biotechnology as an interdisciplinary field of research and as a means of bringing the scientific development to industrial level.Best wishes Dr. Bhattacharya!

Tierra and International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre have signed a Material Transfer Agreement. This time, Tierra, the crop research and technology development company have associated with the catalyst and leader in global maize research. This consortium will give us access to advances Corn breeding material for commercialization in various location. This will take our Corn research to a higher level.
Tierra inaugurated a well-equipped biotech laboratory spread in 3000 square feet near its corporate office in Hyderabad on August 15, 2013. The New research centre will be an added advantage for the development of traits and superior products in our four focus crops - Cotton, Rice, Tomato and Corn.
We are happy to announce that Tierra has received its first round of funding from Malaxmi Agri Ventures Pvt. Ltd. which is a part of Malaxmi Group based in Hyderabad which has its presence in the areas of Energy, Agribusiness, Property Development and Education. The capital will be used for hiring new talent, setting up of Biotech Laboratory and speeding up the R&D works at Tierra.
Tierra signed MTA with AVRDC, Taiwan which will give us access to elite Tomato lines with essential traits which is useful for high value hybrid development. This association will be boost for our Tomato R&D.
Congrats Team Tierra! Our 2 months young Company has signed its first commercial agreement with Iden Biotechnology. Iden is an Agri Biotech R&D and service company based in Spain. This gives Tierra exclusive license to commercialize Iden's SuSy technology in tropical corn in Asian and African market.
Our Director – Research – Breeding & Development, Dr. Surinder Kumar Tikoo was invited by AVRDC, as member of a discussion group to prioritize their projects in India. In the event, Dr. Tikoo represented as an Expert for breeding group and vegetable research.
The full day's workshop was conducted in presence of Mr. Mark Wopereis, Director, AVRDC. The discussion was successful to make a list of breeding projects where AVRDC can concentrate and also work collaboratively with private sector.

Asia and Pacific Seed Association (APSA) in association with National Seed Association of India (NSAI) organized 22nd Asian Seed Congress in Goa on 16 - 20th November 2015. Four day event witnessed the participation of 1128 delegates across 50 countries, 440 companies and 15 seed associations. ASC 2015 focussed on the Indian Seed Industry and its growing importance at a global level. From Tierra, our Directors, Dr. Parthasarathi Bhattacharya and Dr. Surinder Kumar Tikoo attended the Congress.
Tierra participated in the 8th edition of National Seed Congress, held from 17 - 29th October 2015 at Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Hyderabad. Theme of the three day Congress was "Quality Seed for Farmers' Prosperity" which focused on the latest challenges of global seed scenario, cutting edge technologies in the Indian seed industry and future prospects.
We are glad to announce that Tierra's in house R&D unit has been recognized by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) under recognition number TU/IV-RD/3885.
DSIR under Ministry of Science and Technology, operates a National scheme under which it grants recognition and registration to in-house R&D units involved in innovative research and development activities related to the line of firm's business.

Tierra has added a new 15 acre Research and Development farm to its existing research facilities in Hyderabad. This modern facility will focus on breeding activities, screening of diseases, evaluation & selection of breeding materials, inbred development and crossing in our four focus crops. As a part of Tierra's commitment to sustainability and water use efficiency, the entire farm is irrigated by drip irrigation system and has appropriate water harvesting structures to recharge the ground water.
Tierra has signed a MoU with Ceres Beeja Research Pvt. Ltd. for testing of paddy, corn and tomato hybrids in Eastern India. Eastern India is one of the largest markets for Hybrid paddy in India with over 70% market share. Ceres Beeja, based in Kolkata, West Bengal is involved in marketing a range products in Paddy, Wheat and Mustard.

Tierra signed an exclusive commercial agreement with seqID Inc., based in Canada, for development of molecular markers for resistance to GBNV (a TOSPO Virus). GBNV causes yield losses up to 80% in Tomato in South East Asia and South Asia. SEQID is in the business of providing genetic mapping, investigation and sequencing services. Once discovered, this marker will be the first marker discovered for GBNV globally.
In the 15th Governing Body Meeting of Technology Incubation and Entrepreneurship Training Society (TIETS), IIT Kharagpur, held on 12th November 2014, Dr.Parthasarathi Bhattacharya has been invited to join as a Member of TIETS Governing Board. Dr. Bhattacharya, a proud IIT Kharagpur alumnus is our Founder Director and Head of Research (Biotechnology). TIETS and Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Park (STEP), IIT Kharagpur are set to launch a number of exciting projects to promote innovation and translation activities of IIT, Kharagpur.

Tierra has signed a collaborative research agreement with Rice Research Institute of Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences at Hefei, China for development of superior rice hybrids suitable for Indian agro climate. ARRI has a long history on rice genetic improvement, rice biotechnology and new cultivation techniques. Tierra believes, this collaboration will immensely benefit the Indian farmers and both the organisations in near future.
Tierra participated in recently held 65th ISF World Seed Congress in Beijing, China from 26th to 28th May 2014. ISF represents the seed industry at a global level where it promotes the cooperation among national and regional seed associations/firms. This year, 1452 international seed delegates from 60 countries took part in the great seed event to seek the development of the seed industry. Tierra signed a commercial agreement with Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, highly reputed agricultural university of our country. This gives Tierra access to TNAU released hybrids/varieties to commercialize on non-exclusive basis. In future, we plan to develop joint product along with TNAU! Congrats Tierra!
Tierra Seed Science Pvt. Ltd. along with DNA Landmarks, Canada, conducted a conference on "Recent Trends in Molecular Biology" on 28th June 2013 at Hotel Marigold, Hyderabad to spread awareness about the latest innovative tools and techniques available for molecular biology work. This conference was attended by about 50 representatives from the Indian Seed Industry. Interesting lectures were delivered by Dr. S. Robin, Professor and Head, Department of Rice, TNAU on molecular breeding of Rice; Dr. Samir V. Samant, Principal Scientist, NBRI on Genomics of Cotton, for Development of Genetic markers and discovery of genes related to fibre and drought traits and Mr. Charles Pick from DNA Landmarks who spoke about various modern genomic tools available in agriculture and related services being offered by DNA Landmarks. The participants appreciated the efforts of Tierra Seed Science Pvt. Ltd. And DNA Landmarks in conducting such a conference and encouraged the team to conduct many such conferences in future
Tierra is on a great run! It's been just one year and we have signed a research agreement with NBRI for cotton development. Tierra will be benefitted by this fruitful association in terms of discovery of new genes/markers in cotton research and IP generation.
Tierra started its wonderful journey in Jan 2012, with a dream to be the "Best Seed research & Technology development Company". As a first step towards this intent, Tierra has filed a patent for polyploidy.
